ABOUT MEBiologist & Master in GeneticsI am a PhD student at the University of Porto, Portugal, working in the EVOCHANGE Research Group, based in the Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources (CIBIO). I work with genetics tools and bioinformatics to understand evolutive history of natural populations and to conserve biodiversity.
CONNECT AND FIND ME |
ResearchBackgroundI am a geneticist and a wildlife lover. I started my academic career looking for environmental responses to global warming in coral reefs. I also worked on applied conservation projects to investigate the trade of endangered species, especially sharks and rays, through molecular analysis, NGS technologies, and bioinformatics pipelines. With this background, I developed an interest in understanding how biodiversity responds to anthropogenic pressures (e.g. global warming, overexploitation, pollution) and how we can mitigate these impacts. Nowadays, I am studying the evolution and adaptive potential of seasonal camouflage (winter white to summer brown) in weasels.

Science Outreach
I believe in a science more communicative and reaching outside the universities and institutions walls. During my career, I have participated of science outreach events and led my own science outreach projects on social medias. I also share my research on Twitter.
Why is it so crucial to study adaptive responses to climate change? Check it out my interactive content, where you can also see how you can help mitigate those impacts.
